Vandalised lift call button repair in Sunshine

Replacement of a landing up-call button broken loose by vandalism at an apartment complex in Sunshine, Melbourne.

Completed work

The problem

On a Saturday call-out to an apartment complex in Sunshine, the landing up-call button had been damaged by someone using excessive force on it. The force broke the clips that hold the button in the faceplate, so the button sat loose. It still called the lift, because pressing it pushed the casing against the faceplate, but a loose button can be pushed further in or pulled out, and it is one more knock away from not working at all.

The work

These call buttons are made as one piece, so the broken clips cannot be fixed on their own. Hiteck Lift Services replaced the broken up-call button with a new one, clipped firmly into the landing faceplate.

The outcome

The new button sits secure in the faceplate instead of hanging loose. If a lift button in your building is loose, report it before it gets worse: a button that still calls the lift today can fail or be pulled out the next time it is treated roughly.
